TSO has partnered with The Bikeability Trust, the charitable incorporated organisation that manages, develops and promotes the Bikeability programme on behalf of the Department for Transport, to deliver new online training designed to help adults build confidence when cycling on Great Britain's roads.
The partnership brings together The Bikeability Trust's cycle training expertise and TSO's experience in developing official and trusted learning products for road users.
The new online training, CycleIn, aims to support adults who want to develop cycling skills and confidence on today’s roads.
Helping more adults cycle with confidence
Research published in The Bikeability Trust's Lost Generation report, sponsored by Forest, highlights that many adults lack confidence when cycling on the road due to a “lost generation” of cyclists who missed out on training in the switchover from cycling proficiency to Bikeability. With 75% of adults not cycling in the last year, many now lack the confidence to get out on the roads.
CycleIn has been developed to help address these challenges by providing accessible, flexible learning that supports safer and more confident cycling.
The initiative reflects a shared commitment from TSO and The Bikeability Trust to improve road safety and encourage active travel.
Supporting employers and sustainable travel
The partnership also aims to support organisations looking to encourage active and more sustainable travel among their workers.
As employers continue to invest in wellbeing, sustainability and carbon reduction initiatives, cycling can play an important role in helping employees make healthier and more environmentally friendly travel choices.
CycleIn will provide organisations with a practical way to support employees who cycle to work, cycle for work or are considering cycling as part of their daily commute.
A shared commitment to road safety
Lisa Daniels, Account Director at TSO, said:
"We're proud to be partnering with The Bikeability Trust on this important initiative. By combining The Bikeability Trust's expertise in cycle training with TSO's experience in developing trusted learning solutions, we can help more people build the confidence and knowledge they need to travel safely.
This partnership supports our wider commitment to improving road safety and helping organisations encourage healthier and more sustainable travel choices."
Emily Cherry, Chief Executive of The Bikeability Trust, said:
“We have a significant opportunity to grow adult cycling in Great Britain, with 75% of adults telling us they haven't cycled in the last year. We know that the demand is there; what's missing is the skills and confidence to cycle on today's roads.
CycleIn, our new adult e-learning platform, is designed to address that challenge. Drawing on Bikeability's expertise in cycle training and TSO's leadership in digital learning, we're helping more people gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to get cycling.”
