Technology

Terry Blake leads our technology team which is made up of more than 40 developers and PRINCE2 qualified project managers with capability in all the key web development tools. The team includes semantic web specialists who have contributed to some of the key semantic web developments in government. Terry has more than 20 years experience of providing technical solutions in publishing gained through the implementation of a large number of enterprise level publishing systems for a range of public and private sector organisations.

Paul Appleby is our senior content analyst, specialising in the semantic web, information extraction and XML workflows, with a focus on how to integrate these technologies into state-of-the-art publication systems. Paul has also been heavily involved in projects relating to the opening up of government data. Paul has worked in IT for 18 years, the majority of them spent in publishing, with experience ranging from STM journals through to legislation. Most recently, his work has focused on projects involving legislation and working on TSO's OpenUp platform.

Publishing

Richard South has responsibility for TSO's high-profile publishing services on behalf of the Houses of Lords and Commons and The National Archives. One of Richard's primary focuses is applying the latest TSO digital content capabilities to communications solutions, to enable clients to improve the dissemination of their information whilst enhancing cost efficiency and ease of accessibility.

Janine Eves has over 10 years experience in managing complex publishing relationships and is expert in developing strong governance processes to ensure the quality and accuracy of commissioned content. Janine manages the publishing of the five Best Management Practice brands, is a member of itSMF and has been Non-Executive Director for the Best Practice User Group since 2005.

Paul Allard has many years experience in print and publishing and has responsibility for TSO’s service delivery function, including editorial, graphic design and a team of experienced service delivery executives who control and co-ordinate the specification, production and delivery of multi-media publishing, print, and print related items. Advice is available to clients on the most appropriate and cost effective solution for a wide range of publishing projects.

Production

Hayden Savage is responsible for TSO’s production operation including our in-house Parliamentary Press facility which delivers high security, no-fail services to government. The operation also has substantial print on demand capacity, enabling us to produce half a million pages a month. Hayden has an established background in document composition and data transformation for multiple publishing platforms.

Andrew Allen has responsibility for electronic, commercial and administration services and works in collaboration with a team of experts to support websites for both Parliament and The National Archives, using his extensive knowledge and experience in estimating, print procurement and XHTML for electronic publishing. Andrew has more than 20 years experience in providing best in class services.

Steve Linehan is our Technical Manager, based at Parliamentary Press, advising on digital imaging, digital origination, colour management and digital (PDF) workflows. Starting his long career in printing as an apprentice compositor, Steve has been adept at embracing the huge developments in printing technology and is an industry expert.

Marketing

Lisa Hallett heads up our marketing team which is responsible for delivering marketing programmes for our clients' products; new product development; web content and ecommerce. The team has driven channel shift from offline channels to online delivery to reduce cost and improve engagement. Lisa has more than 20 years of marketing experience in various industries and holds professional qualifications from CIM and IDM.

Bibliographics

Peter Gutteridge is our Cataloguing Manager and has almost 30 years experience in information management. Peter's detailed knowledge of government, parliamentary and statutory publishing ensures that TSO's bibliographic data is accurate and reliable. Peter has an MSc in Information Science and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals.
