Happy New Gear! Biker takes home £1,000 worth of bike gear

Donald Barclay recieves his prize

Passionate biker Donald Barclay had a great start to the New Year when he was announced the winner of the 2013 ‘Win Bike Gear Competition’. The competition is run by TSO (The Stationery Office) the official publisher for the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency).

Donald entered the competition in April 2013 and won £1,000 worth of vouchers to spend in his chosen motorcycle shop – Shirlaws, Crown Street, Aberdeen.

Donald won the competition by answering all the competition entry questions correctly and by completing this tie breaker question:

“Learning to ride will change my life, because…?”

Donald answered: “My father was a passionate motorcyclist and I hope to continue motorcycling through our family as it is the most fun I’ve had”.

Donald was delighted to find out that he had been selected as the 2013 competition winner. Here’s what he had to say:

“I grew up with motorcycles. My father David was a passionate biker and was always working on British motorcycle projects. From growing up riding bikes off road I decided to pass my road test and save up for a motorcycle last year. My friend Matthew gave me a shot of his Honda CBF 125 and I loved it so decided to get myself 'one for the road'. I love it and hope to continue to move up and be the best rider I can be.

When I won I felt shocked but very happy! I enter a few competitions here and there with things I'm passionate about like music and motorcycles but never hear anything back so it was great to be a winner of something I'm passionate about.”
