TSO is awarded framework agreement for Digital Continuity
TSO, part of the Williams Lea Group and the leading supplier of publishing solutions to the public sector, has announced that it has been awarded a framework agreement for Digital Continuity by Buying Solutions, the UK national partner for procurement services. TSO’s framework agreement covers Lot 3 – Data Conversion and Migration Services and Lot 5 – eDiscovery Solutions. Under these Lots, organisations will be able to utilise TSO’s professional services to convert and transform data and to mine unstructured information.
TSO has been at the forefront of working with public sector clients to open up published data, helping to create, structure, capture, transform and deliver some of the most important government information in the public domain. The new framework agreement will enable all public sector organisations to use the tools, services and expertise that TSO has developed in this field.
TSO’s developers have worked on a range of professional services projects including developing www.legislation.gov.uk
for The National Archives. The website is built on open data principles to provide full access to the statute book for browsing online and also as open data, providing access in XML and RDF formats through a public API.
TSO has developed a Data Enrichment Service which extracts useful information such as people’s names, places, dates or organisations from content and makes them available in a variety of formats to suit the user. One of those formats is RDF/XML, which enables the extracted information to be linked with other data.
The standard Data Enrichment Service at http://openup.tso.co.uk/des
is free to use, with a Professional version available for a monthly fee.
Richard Dell, CEO of TSO said 'We are delighted to be awarded this framework agreement for Digital Continuity. The framework enables us to provide our expert open data professional services under a standard contract, endorsed by both The National Archives and Buying Solutions. We look forward to helping public sector organisations enhance and open up their data.'
The framework commences in January 2011 and provides:
- An efficient, EU-compliant route to market
- A standard, pre-agreed call-off contract structure and terms and conditions
- Expert advice and guidance on using the framework agreement
- Provision of Management Information
- Benchmarking activity to ensure continued value for money
- Supplier management and audit
- Shared information on best practice.
