Official DSA title to support new motorcycle test

The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) are pleased to announce the launch of the new edition of The Official DSA Guide to Learning to Ride. This latest publication is the only official guide that explains the standards required to complete the compulsory basic training (CBT) course and pass the new practical motorcycle test being introduced on 27 April 2009.

The new motorcycle test is split into two parts and provides a safer approach to motorcycle riding:

  • Module 1 will take place off-road and will include exercises designed to assess the rider’s ability to control their machine safely, including avoidance and emergency stop exercises.
  • Module 2 will include an eyesight test, the safety check questions and at least 30 minutes of on-road riding, assessing the rider’s ability to safely interact with other road users.

The new edition of Learning to Ride provides all the vital information learners require to successfully complete their CBT course and prepare to pass their practical test first time. The book details information about the new modular practical test, information on all five CBT elements and a CBT record to complete, plus a competition to 'Win Bike Gear'!

The new edition complements the DSA range of motorcycle publications which includes:

  • The Official DSA Theory Test for Motorcyclists book and CD-ROM
  • The Official DSA Guide to Riding – the essential skills
  • Better Biking DVD - The Official DSA Training Aid
  • The Official DSA Biker Pack – Theory Test CD-ROM and Better Biking DVD

The Official DSA Guide to Learning to Ride, ISBN 9780115530562 is published by TSO (The Stationery Office), priced at £7.99 and is available now.
