The British Pharmacopoeia 2009 has been published

This essential reference for the quality assurance, manufacturing, and research and development industries, is the only official source of British pharmaceutical standards.

Published by TSO (The Stationery Office) on behalf of the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the BP 2009 features 44 new monographs for formulated preparations as well as all European Pharmacopoeia material up to and including Supplement 6.2 integrated into the text of the BP 2009.

The BP contains approximately 3,200 monographs and provides legally enforceable standards which all medicinal products supplied to or sold into the UK must meet in order to protect public health. These standards are used in over 100 countries worldwide.

Legally in force from 1 January 2009, all medicinal and pharmaceutical manufacturers should purchase their copy of the BP to ensure they have the appropriate systems and checks in place before the standards become legal requirements.

Electronic formats

Staying up-to-date with the latest technological innovations, the BP 2009 is also available in a variety of electronic formats. For the second year the BP will be also be published as an eBook continuing the success of the 2008 eBook edition (exclusively available to existing purchasers of the BP 2009).
