Metropolitan Police launch dynamic DVD

The Metropolitan Police Service Family Liaison Advisory Team has produced a new training DVD entitled ‘Mass Fatalities - A Dynamic Response’.

The film examines the developing role of the Family Liaison Officer (FLO) and Transport Care Teams in mass fatality emergencies. It also identifies how critical good working relationships are between agencies in order to achieve a level of service appropriate to the needs of victims and survivors.

The DVD is divided into 8 sections and covers:

  • 9/11

  • Role of the FLO

  • Role of Public, Private and Voluntary sectors

  • Disaster Victim Identification (DVI)

  • Tsunami and Bali

  • Family Liaison Advisors (FLA) and Co-ordinators (FLC)

  • Occupational Health and Welfare

  • Planning and Preparedness

Understanding of the content is reinforced by use of a PowerPoint presentation which is incorporated into the product.

“For the first time ever, this DVD brings together some of the most knowledgeable, influential and passionate individuals involved in delivering and developing humanitarian response in the UK. Let us learn from them and be inspired by them” Peter Lovegrove, Operations Support Manager - Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC)

The DVD is supported by leading organisations such as BMI, the Association of Train Operating Companies, Blake Emergency Services and the British Memorial Garden New York.

This is a ‘must have’ resource if you are involved in the planning of and/or the delivery of care and support to victims’ families or survivors and their families in a mass fatality emergency, or just want to know more about the role of the Police FLO.
